As a nurturing mother of two beautiful children, Masonia (Ma-Sahn-Yah) passionately dedicates herself as a Global Activist for HIV/AIDS, Youth, and Black Women. She was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania and moved to Atlanta in 1991 where she was raised in Decatur, Georgia.
During a routine OB/GYN medical visit in Fall 2010, she was told by her provider at the tender age of 23, that she “was not at risk” for HIV. She was diagnosed HIV positive and 2 weeks later found out that she was pregnant with her second child, which devastated and changed her life forever.
As a distinguished undergraduate alumni of the Andrew Young School of Public Policy Studies at Georgia State University, where her concentration was Public Policy and Nonprofit Leadership and Management and Business Administration, she worked tirelessly as a Pharmacy Technician.
After devoting her life to 10 years as a Pharmacy Technician & Customer Service Consultant, she decided to shift her career in public health and has since served as a Certified Speaker & representative for numerous AIDS Servicing Organizations and groups.
She is currently the CEO/Founder of 501c3 established nonprofit organization Lady BurgAndy Inc. servicing women and youth impacted by HIV/AIDS. She sits on the Global Community Advisory Board for The Well Project, Executive Health Committee for the National Council for Negro Women, University of Houston’s SUSTAIN Advocacy Group (SAG) -Georgia Representative, and appointed the 2nd Vice-Chair of the Metropolitan Atlanta HIV Health Services Planning Council.
Over the years, through her leadership, she has served as a Youth Advocate and Expert Consultant for the Georgia Community HIV Prevention Planning Group, The Red Pump Project, Absolute Care Medical Center Patient Advisory Board, The Atlanta Area Outreach Initiative, Ryan White Planning Council, Empowerment Resource Center, Center for Black Women's Wellness, Georgia Equality’s Youth HIV Policy Advisors, Sister Love Inc., Black Women’s Health Imperative, AID Atlanta, City Match, The American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists- FIMR/HIV, Positive Women's Network, Georgia Department of Public Health, Fulton/Dekalb County Health Departments, Centers for Disease Control and more. She takes pride in currently serving as an Ambassador for Kaiser Family Foundation’s “Greater Than AIDS- Empowerment & We Are Family” and CDC’s Act Against AIDS “Stop HIV Together” campaigns. She has also made appearances on National Billboards, Public Transit Bus Stops, Kiss 104.1FM, Jazz 91.9FM, Majic 107.5FM, Praise 102.5 FM, Hot 107.9FM, BET, ESPN, UPN, and Fox 5 TV and radio Channel's, ESSENCE, PEOPLE, & POZ magazines.
She has reached over 100,000 adolescents & young adults as well as millions of individuals around the world, empowering and educating them on HIV/AIDS.
