Masonia B. Traylor
Meet Masonia Burgandy Traylor-
A Renowned HIV Activist and Dedicated Mom
About Me
Hello I am Masonia Burgandy Traylor and welcome to my personal website. I’m really grateful you decided to click by. My name is enunciated as Ma-Sahn-Yah/ Bur-Gan-Dee/ Tray-Lor and I’ve learned to tell people that my name is pronounced much softer than my presence.
I’m a very passionate advocate for HIV awareness and an unwavering supporter of those living with HIV and those helping community navigate a HIV diagnosis. With a background in pharmacy and customer service, I dedicated 10 years of my life as a Pharmacy Technician and Customer Service Consultant. However, after learning of a childhood friend’s passing from complications of HIV stigma, you know those heavy conversations and nasty talks of HIV being punishment, my deep commitment to public health led me to make a career change and focus on fighting the HIV epidemic in 2012.
Activism and Advocacy
Having witnessed firsthand the impact of HIV on myself while pregnant, other individuals and communities with high prevalence rates, I have decided to channel my energy towards making a difference in Black & Brown communities prioritizing women and youth and their social determinants of health. Over the last decade+, I have actively contributed to the cause as a Certified Professional Speaker and representative for numerous HIV Servicing Organizations and groups.
Through my activism, I strive to break down the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV, build community and sisterhood, educate about prevention and treatment options, and rally support for those living with or impacted by the virus. By leveraging my expertise and personal experiences, I aim to create a more inclusive and empathetic society. To learn more about my professional experiences or to connect with me click here.
A Mom Living with HIV
As a mommy living with HIV, I understand the unique challenges faced by individuals navigating parenthood while also dealing with the virus. My personal journey has given me profound insights into the intersection of motherhood, HIV, and overall well-being. I am passionate about empowering other moms living with HIV, offering support, guidance, and a sense of community through my work.
Join Me in Making a Difference
I invite you to join me on this transformative journey. Together, we can challenge the stereotypes surrounding HIV, promote compassion, and foster a society where everyone affected by the HIV virus can flourish and care to not only know their HIV status and receive any all deserving support to navigate their HIV diagnosis to keep from spreading it to others. Explore my website to learn more about my advocacy efforts, find valuable resources, and become part of a historical movement that seeks to bring about positive change.
Let us stand together, embrace our shared humanity, and create a future free from the burdens of HIV.
The work that I do is not easy at all but it’s so rewarding when you have been apart of someone not losing their life to HIV or even when someone gains peace and confidence and they are grounded in why they are making the decisions on why they do this work or why they haven’t given up on themselves. I don’t take what I am privileged to do for granted what so ever. This is more than a mission, it’s a gift, and a calling and i wouldn’t trade it for nothing. I tell people to use my story when they are afraid to disclose their own to test the temperature of folks and watch how they react.
Thank you in so much for your love and support in advance.
